Prachuap in Light
2026-01-01 · Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand
Christmas was low-key. A few hotels and restaurants put up decorations, and every now and then you’d hear a quiet Merry Christmas. Meanwhile, the town was already busy preparing for the New Year.
It took several days for crews to dress up the Saranwithi Pier—better known as the Prachuap Fishing Pier—and they did a fantastic job.
By early evening, families and groups of friends gathered along the seawall with food, drinks, and music, sending off 2025 in their own relaxed style. Official fireworks on the pier rang in the New Year—briefly visible before a massive cloud of smoke drifted in and blocked the view. It looked like some of the fireworks decided to go off on their own terms.
This year, I wasn’t really in the mood for the usual seasonal reflections. Was it a good year? What should one hope for in the next? But I feel very fortunate and grateful for the people around me—and yes, I mean you, all of you, near or far.
Thank you for being part of my life.
